Soul Direction

Guided discernment for life's deeper mysteries

Schedule Your Threshold Session

Soul direction offers a quiet space to pause and listen more carefully to what may be unfolding in your inner life.

Threshold Session

Many people begin with a Threshold Session, a private conversation during times when something in life is shifting or asking for deeper attention.

A threshold is a place of pause. It is a moment when something in life is changing and deeper listening becomes necessary.

In this session, I accompany you in exploring what may be unfolding in your life emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. Sometimes this includes tending grief, whether connected to personal loss, life transition, or the unsteadiness many feel while living in an increasingly unsettled world.

Some people arrive during times of clear transition. Others come with a quieter sense that something within their life or inner world is beginning to change.

Sessions take place privately via Zoom or telephone, depending on what feels most comfortable for you.

What Soul Direction Is

Soul direction is the practice of presence. It offers space to slow down and listen to what is happening in your inner life during times when familiar ways of living or meaning-making no longer hold.

In soul direction, attention is given to what is emerging in your life. Feelings, patterns, questions, longings, and resistances are noticed and held with care. Time is taken to discern what matters without rushing toward answers or solutions.

This work is not about advice or fixing. It is not about improving yourself or becoming someone else. It is about learning how to listen more honestly to what your life is asking of you.

Soul direction supports people in staying present with complexity, grief, joy, and unknowing. It helps cultivate a more trusting relationship with your own conscience and inner life, rather than relying on external authority.

This work includes a gentle but honest turning toward what is often called the shadow. The shadow holds the disowned, wounded, or unintegrated parts of ourselves that quietly shape our reactions and relationships. In simple terms, it is often the part of us that keeps recreating the very patterns we say we do not want.

When left unexamined, it can narrow our vision and harden our hearts, especially in times of collective strain. In soul direction, we learn to stay with the shadow rather than exile it. We learn to listen. There is wisdom within what has been hidden. The shadow is not something to overcome, but a teacher that, when approached with humility and courage, can deepen integrity and compassion.

How Soul Direction Works

In a session, you bring whatever feels most alive for you right now. This may include grief, confusion, anger, longing, relief, curiosity, or something that is still difficult to name.

My role is to offer grounded, compassionate presence. I listen closely and reflect what I hear. I help slow the pace so we can stay with what is present rather than moving past it too quickly.

In this work, we may:

  • notice what continues to return for your attention
  • stay with difficult or tender emotions without trying to resolve them
  • listen for what is asking to be tended
  • discern what feels aligned with your conscience and direction
  • allow insight to emerge in its own time

This is a collaborative process. You remain the authority on your own life.

Why People Seek Soul Direction

People come to soul direction for many reasons. Sometimes there is clear loss or transition. Other times there is a quieter sense of malaise, disorientation, or spiritual stagnation, shaped by personal experience and by the state of the world.

People often arrive when:

  • they feel a general malaise about their life or about the world
  • they sense they are in a spiritual rut or feel inwardly stagnant
  • familiar sources of meaning no longer feel nourishing
  • grief is present, named or unnamed
  • joy and sorrow are both present without a clear way to hold them
  • they feel restless, disconnected, or unsure how to live from here
  • they know something wants attention, but cannot yet say what

You do not need a clear problem to begin. A willingness to stay with what feels true is enough.

Do I need to be religious or spiritual?
