The Tending

To be in the world without being consumed by it.

A year of discernment, energetic practice, and belonging for ten souls.

January–December
2027

I'm interested in The Tending

What is worthy of your attention?

You've spent much of your life learning, questioning, taking responsibility, and making thoughtful choices. You care deeply about the people in your life and the world around you. And there comes a time when knowing more or doing more isn't the answer. The deeper question is how you want to live.

Time is finite. Our attention is finite. In a world that continually demands more of both, discerning what matters becomes increasingly important. We can seek knowledge, expertise, and guidance from others, but ultimately, what matters most to you is yours to discern; how you choose to live, love, and work is also yours to decide.

The Tending grew from my desire to spend a year with ten people willing to look honestly at their lives and the world, discern what matters, and tend what emerges. I'm creating a space where we are known, where our individual and collective lives are held within a shared intention, and where what becomes possible is shaped not only by the work we do, but by who is doing that work alongside us.

Some answers can only be found within. We are not meant to search for them alone.

A Year of Tending

The Tending is not built around a predetermined curriculum. The rhythm of the year will remain steady, but our work together will respond to our lives and the world around us.

There will be things we choose to create and things we choose to release. Decisions without obvious answers. Relationships that ask something new of us. Old patterns that resurface. Joy we want to be fully present for. Losses we did not choose and grief we cannot hurry. Events in the wider world that challenge our consciences and ask us to examine how we want to live within it.

We are always perceiving, intuiting, and listening. But perception and truth are not the same. Fear can feel like wisdom. Pride can masquerade as discernment. An old wound can feel like intuition. Avoidance can look like surrender. The work is learning to discern what we are listening to.

Discernment does not remove uncertainty. It expands our capacity to meet life as it is, rather than as we want or believe it should be. We become less governed by fear and expectation. We can hold sorrow and joy at the same time, care deeply without carrying everything, and choose how we will live even when we cannot know what comes next.

Rhythm of the Year

The questions will change. The rhythm that holds them will remain.

January 1–December 31, 2027

The Tending has a steady rhythm of weekly practice, monthly gathering, and private attention. Each creates a different kind of space for what we are tending individually and together.

Energetic Practice & Clearing

Weekly · Mondays · 12–12:30 p.m. Eastern

Each week, I'll hold the space and facilitate an energetic clearing for the group. Together, we'll notice what we're holding, work consciously with our own energy, and make room to listen and discern. Over time, these practices become familiar ways of tending your own energy and expanding your capacity to meet what is.

Live participation is optional; join when you're able. All sessions will be recorded.

Inquiry & Discernment

Monthly · First Thursday · 12–1:30 p.m. Eastern

We'll gather for inquiry, discernment, and direct work with what is present in our individual and collective lives. Our time may include teaching, writing, silence, shared reflection, witnessing, or focused work with individuals in the presence of the group. What we attend to will emerge from our lives, our questions, and the world we are living in.

Live participation is encouraged. All sessions will be recorded.

Private Attention

Quarterly · Four 90-minute private sessions

Four times throughout the year, you and I will step out of the group and attend closely to what is unfolding in your life. These private sessions give us room to follow what's changing over time, return to what remains unresolved, and discern what is asking for your attention now. That may be your work or business, a relationship, something you are creating, a decision you're facing, a loss you're carrying, or something you cannot yet name.

Between Our Gatherings

Throughout the year · Private group space

A private group space will give us a way to stay connected between gatherings, share what's emerging, acknowledge something difficult or beautiful, celebrate what is changing, ask a question, or simply remain in conversation with one another.

The Bedford Springs Retreat

August 19–22, 2027 · Three nights and four days · Bedford, PA

Our year includes an in-person retreat at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, Pennsylvania. The retreat is the embodied center of our year—a time to step away from the rhythms of ordinary life and attend more deeply to what has been unfolding within us and among us.

We'll gather in sacred circles for teaching, inquiry, energetic clearing, and reflection, drawing from the questions and experiences we've been tending throughout the year. There will be space for silence, meaningful conversation, rest, and time on the land.

One morning will be devoted to the spa and mineral springs as a shared ritual of tending and renewal. You'll experience the Bedford Bath Ritual, a guided immersion through the historic springs, followed by a Quiet Mind massage.

Private accommodations, meals, retreat activities, and the spa morning are included.

The closest major airport is Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), approximately 2.5 hours from the resort. Participants should plan for ground transportation by rental car or carpool. Shared transportation may be provided depending on the final makeup of the group.

An Invitation

The Tending is for people willing to look honestly at their lives, remain present when answers are not immediately available, and bring that same quality of attention to one another. We do not need to share the same experiences or arrive at the same answers. We must share a commitment to the dignity of every person and to creating a more just, humane, and compassionate world. We need to be willing to listen without fixing or convincing, question what we assume to be true, and consider what conscience asks of us.

I want to spend 2027 in shared formation with people I choose to know deeply—people who care about how they live, what they give their attention to, and how they show up in the world.
